Fasteners and Holding ropes
Fasteners can consist of ropes or straps and serve for direct connection of a belt’s fall-arrest eyelet with the fastening point.
Fasteners always must include a shockabsorber or be used with a shockabsorber, respectively, since otherwise the occurring forces represent too high a load for the body and the equipment. The maximum length of a Fastener, including the shockabsorber, amounts to 2 m.
Holding ropes serve for positioning during work. This creates safety and facilitates working. The user can use his/her hands freely and can work with both hands instead of having to hold on to something. This of course strains the holding rope, and in particular the end connections are highly stressed.
This is why the holding ropes of SKYLOTEC are provided with self-adhesive shrinkable tubing of robust polyolefin, which shows an enormous abrasion resistance. During production, the tubing, which is coated with an adhesive on the inside, is shrunk onto the end connection using heat. The adhesive melts into the surface of the rope. Fixed in this manner, the shrinkable tubing is protected against slipping and protects the sensitive rope end: for a longer durability and more safety!
SHOCKYARD
With the shockabsorber line SHOCKYARD those working at heights are always safe. The highstrength polyester in the cushioning core and in the protective sheathing do not absorb any moisture and are not even affected by variations in temperature.
The shockabsorber runs over the entire length in the SHOCKYARD. If an incident does occur, the fall energy is limited to well under 6kN, absorbed evenly without any load peaks and converted into a plastic deformation of the shockabsorber line SHOCKYARD.
The shockabsorber line has a shortened fall-arrest distance of 0.95m and absorbs the fall without the usual tearing noises. This psychological effect appreciably reduces the shock from the fall. The fact that all the absorbing and load-bearing parts are encased by the sheathing of the SHOCKYARD also means it is suitable for work where there are sharp edges and makes it extremely resistant to dirt and any wear or abrasion.
LOOP SEP
Sharp edges are a source of danger. The risk is often underestimated when carrying out overhead cable construction work, climbing up lattice masts, on cranes and when on rescue operations. The unique, patented anchoring loop LOOP SEP combining exceptionally strong textile and steel is certified in accordance with EN 795 and EN 354 with a maximum tensile force of 30kN on sharp edges.
The loop is enclosed by a protective tube made of special heavy-duty fi bres. The tube is fixed so that it is captive and cannot slip. The load-bearing element lies protected inside. The fixing at the ends of the tube is stitched conically so that the loop does not get caught at this critical point.
