1948 | Eduard Kaufmann establishes the company. He makes and sells safety belts and harnesses for the mining industry, and dragging stretchers for rescuing workers in mines.
1982 | The German patent office registers Eduard Kaufmann's design for the first dragging stretcher made completely of stainless steel, which reduces the risk of sparks during rescue work. The design proves to be a winner, edging out all the other types of stretchers from German pits.
Eduard Kaufmann sells his firm. The company Eduard Kaufmann GmbH is founded with its head office in the Rhineland town of Neuwied. The company continues to expand under the leadership of Wolfgang Rinklake and the period up to 1999 sees annual sales soar from 0.5 million EUR to 6 million EUR.
2000 | Kai Rinklake joins the company. The product range is revised and expanded. A training centre is set up and also an export sales department for customers in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Asia..
2004 | The new business segment "Interservice" offers on-site working at heights, assembly, inspections, repairsand other services. EKN Asia Pacific pte. Ltd. is opened.
2005 | The comprehensive range of services, the outstanding, high-quality and highly competitive products, which are still made in the company's own production centre in Neuwied, and the strong international focus of Eduard Kaufmann GmbH lead to a decisive step:
To achieve further growth through its own efforts and to take on the global markets, the company changes its name. Now called SKYLOTEC GmbH, with the addition "Professional Protective Equipment" and the new corporate identity, the company prepares itself with Kai Rinklake at the helm for the challenges of tomorrow and the markets of the future.

SKYLOTEC has launched a new climbing and mountaineering brand and has immediately won the coveted OutDoor Award!
