Douglas Mercier elected Chairman of ANSI/ASSP Z359.16 Subcommittee

Douglas Mercier, Managing Director of SKYLOTEC North America, was elected by the members of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) as chairman of the subcommittee responsible for the ANSI/ASSP Z359.16 standard.

"Vertical fall protection systems include SKYLOTEC's 'Claw Line,' for example, which can be used to ascend and descend ladders."

The standard applies to Safety Requirements for Climbing Ladder Fall Arrest Systems on wire ropes and rigid rails in the USA. This includes systems such as SKYLOTEC's "Claw Line" and “Sky-Tac” which are used for vertical ascent and descent on ladders and structures in the Telecommunication, Wind Energy, Electrical Utilities (transmission towers), Oil & Gas and the manufacturing & logistics industries.

The ASSP is a global association of occupational safety and health professionals dedicated to creating safe working environments in all industries. As chairman of the subcommittee for the ANSI/ASSP Z359.16 standard, Douglas will invest in future international exchanges with members of the standards committees for EN 353-1, which is valid in Europe, and CSA Z259.2.5, which applies to Canada. Mercier has worked in the fall protection industry for more than 30 years. Since 2016, he expanded SKYLOTEC's North American subsidiary in Denver as Managing Director.
