GWO
TRAINING

Working in the wind energy industry – both onshore and offshore – comes with special safety requirements. Our GWO (Global Wind Organization) Standard Training course is the ideal way to prepare you for these challenges.

Our practice-oriented training teaches you essential safety skills so that you can work safely and competently in demanding environments. We place great emphasis on you not only complying with global safety standards, but also developing a thorough understanding of safe working practices.

During this training, you will learn how to work safely at heights, how to handle loads ergonomically and how to react quickly and correctly in an emergency.

  • GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) or Basic Safety Training Refresher (BST-R)
    Duration: 4 days
  • GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) or Advanced Rescue Training Refresher (ART-R)
    Duration: 3 days
  • GWO Wind Limited Access
    Duration: 1 day

CONTENTS

GWO Basic Safety Training (BST)
GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (BST-R)

  • First Aid enables participants to recognise life-threatening situations in the wind industry and to provide safe, effective first aid. The aim is to save lives, prevent further injuries and ensure patients are properly transferred.
  • Manual Handling aims to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries in wind technicians and to teach safe working practices in wind Power plants. In this context, first-time participants and refresher course participants learn from each other, with experienced participants actively sharing their knowledge.
  • Fire awareness training enables participants to prevent fires, correctly assess hazardous situations and safely organise evacuations. They also learn how to safely fight incipient fires with fire extinguishers, provided that the situation allows it.
  • Working at heights training enables participants to use PPE safely through theoretical and practical exercises and to carry out basic rescue procedures at heights.

GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART)
GWO Advanced Rescue Training Refresher (ART-R)

  • ART-Hub enables participants to carry out rescues in the hub, spinner and rotor blade area of a wind Power plant. The use of rescue methods and equipment that go beyond the standard of GWO Working at Height are trained.
  • ART-Nacelle enables participants to rescue injured persons from the nacelle, tower and foundations of a wind Power plant. Rescue techniques and equipment that exceed the GWO standard for working at height are trained.
  • SART-HUB (Single Rescuer) enables participants to independently carry out advanced rescues in the area of the hub, spinner and rotor blade of a wind Power plant. Techniques and equipment are taught that go beyond the GWO module BST Working at Heights.
  • SART-Nacelle (Single Rescuer) enables participants to carry out advanced rescue procedures independently in the nacelle, tower and foundations of a wind Power plant. Techniques and rescue equipment are taught that exceed the standard of GWO BST Working at Heights.

GWO Wind Limited Access

  • WLA-Onshore provides basic knowledge of hazards, medical emergencies, fires and height safety for visiting onshore wind Power plants. After completion, participants may enter wind Power plants when accompanied by at least two experienced GWO-BST trained persons.
