FFP2 masks from SKYLOTEC: Breathable and comfortable to wear

Demand for FFP2 masks has recently increased significantly due to stricter regulations to contain the Corona pandemic - by a multiple in the healthcare sector alone.

In addition, the mouth-nose protection is used for private use. At SKYLOTEC, up to 1,000,000 FFP2 masks are now produced each month. The German manufacturer of protective equipment is thus launching a mask certified in accordance with EN 149:2001+A1:2009, which offers an optimal fit and is at the same time very breathable with high filter performance.

The FFP2 masks from SKYLOTEC score with wearing comfort, ergonomic fit and breathability.

Protection when treating infectious patients has become even more important for medical and nursing staff in the healthcare sector during the Corona pandemic. In order for doctors or nurses to protect themselves from pathogenic aerosols and infection with SARS-CoV-2, they often have to wear respiratory protection of protection class FFP2. Such masks are now also part of SKYLOTEC's portfolio. After IIR type medical face masks, the manufacturer of protective equipment now also produces FFP2 masks certified according to EN 149:2001+A1:2009. They have a filtering efficiency of 94% while maintaining good breathability. This is important so that users get enough air and wear the mask tightly enough. If this does not happen, air flows past the mask. This makes it useless or at least largely ineffective.

"FFP masks such as SKYLOTEC's models, as part of personal protective equipment, serve primarily to protect the mask wearer from particles, droplets and aerosols."

On the job, the masks should hinder employees as little as possible so that they can concentrate fully on their work. Wearing comfort, ergonomic fit and, in particular, breathability are therefore essential factors for them. SKYLOTEC's FFP masks are made with meltblown filter fleece, a very lightweight material. The soft inner fleece makes the masks comfortable to wear. They also have a nose clip made of plastic-coated wire, which can be easily adjusted to the individual nose shape. This increases the wearing comfort and at the same time ensures that the mask fits tightly. In addition, the masks are latex-free, making them suitable for people with latex allergies. It can also happen that masks have an unpleasant chemical smell and cause reddening of the skin, for example. High-quality masks such as SKYLOTEC's solutions are therefore odorless, allowing people to breathe freely without any problems.

Users must be instructed

FFP-Masken sind ein Arbeitsschutzprodukt und werden auch und vor allem in Bereichen eingesetzt, in denen giftige Schadstoffe und toxische Stäube entstehen.“

Masks for light respiratory protection are not only commonplace in healthcare, but have also proven their worth in many other activities. In areas such as metalworking, the automotive industry, maintenance or repair, their use was common even before the Corona pandemic and even required by law to ensure that work is safe even in the most severe conditions. For example, FFP2 masks filter toxic pollutants and protect against toxic dusts such as calcium oxide or concrete dust. These are produced, for example, when grinding cement and steel or welding structural steel. The masks are an occupational safety product for which instruction is required by law to ensure their function. An FFP2 mask must be selected approximately so that its shape fits the wearer's particular face. It must be put on correctly and checked by the wearer for a tight fit. Users must bear this in mind if they wish to use these particle-filtering half masks in a private environment. Only then will the protective effect be fully maintained. However, it no longer exists for beard wearers, for whom such masks are not intended.

Over 70 years of experience in quality assurance

A global company and brand previously known for fall protection, SKYLOTEC expanded its range last year to include lightweight respiratory protection and will produce medical face masks and masks for respiratory protection (FFP masks) beyond the Corona pandemic. As a manufacturer of a wide variety of protective equipment, the German family-owned company has more than 70 years of experience and corresponding systems for quality assurance in production. The existing know-how is an advantage when it comes to the production of FFP2 masks, for example. This is because - like PPE against falls from a height - these belong to Category III PPE according to the EU PPE Regulation, which covers protective equipment for protection against fatal hazards and irreversible damage to health. In addition, an in-house respiratory protection laboratory was set up for mask production in order to be above the state of the art in quality assurance for ongoing production and to stay ahead of the competition.

By shortening supply chains to occupational safety and medical product distributors, SKYLOTEC increases security of supply and helps to reduce inventories and time as well as transport costs. Last but not least, this protects the environment because production in Germany and Europe noticeably reduces CO2 emissions.
