SKYLOTEC, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of rescue and evacuation devices, has put its know-how into improving its products in the area of hardware over the years. SKYLOTEC now has a new solution for fall protection on ladders - the “Claw Line” - a steel cable fall-arrest system. The system can be installed on existing structures or ladders already in use with little effort. It can also be flexibly adjusted to individual circumstances and locations. “Claw Line” is certified under the latest standard EN 353-1:2014+A1:2017 and approved for stainless steel cables with diameters of 8mm and 10mm. When used with the vertical fall-arrest sleeve, “Claw” and its safety-relevant details, users can ascend and descend on a permanently secured fall-arrest system. The new PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 replaced the 30-year-old PPE Directive 89/686/EEC of 1989 on 21 April 2018. It is binding in all EU Member States. On Sunday, 21 April 2019, the transitional period for manufacturers to place on the market Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that does not meet the requirements of the Regulation, will end. In the critical area of via ferrata sets in particular, we aim to offer the “safest via ferrata set on the market” since we launched the “RIDER” and our quality controls at SKYLOTEC are accordingly stringent. During the routine quality check of the last batch of the SKYSAFE carabiner, we noticed that its break values are scattered, even though the hardness tests exhibited no deviations. During an enhanced sampling, erratic values were even determined in a range that is no longer standard-compliant/safety-relevant. Read more
