SKYLOTEC donates mouth-nose protection for St. Franziskus School Koblenz

SKYLOTEC, a manufacturer of protective equipment based in Neuwied, Germany, is donating mouth-nose protection to the St. Franziskus School in Koblenz. The educational institution will receive 10,000 medical face masks that teachers, students can wear when they return to the classroom.

Due to the high numbers of infections, schools nationwide had to switch to distance learning, and classrooms remained deserted for weeks. Even though a gradual return to face-to-face teaching is planned from February 15, masks for children and young people will remain everyday companions in school buildings. To ensure that students at the St. Franziskus School in Koblenz can effectively protect themselves and others from infection, SKYLOTEC has now donated 10,000 type IIR masks. The family-owned company from Neuwied has been producing and developing protective equipment for over 70 years. Last year, it expanded its program to include lightweight occupational protection and will produce medical face masks and masks for respiratory protection (FFP masks) beyond the Corona pandemic. "Every day, we create solutions that make our customers' lives safer. In these special times, our social mission is to put our skills to work where they are needed most. With this donation, we want to help where there is a real need for masks," says Dr. Kai Rinklake, CEO of SKYLOTEC.

"School director Daniel Bongers (left) and vice school director Manfred König (right) are pleased with Anne Liesenfeld, teacher for the subjects of health and care, about SKYLOTEC's donation of mouth-nose protection."

School director Daniel Bongers comments: "Effective masks make an important contribution to being able to conduct face-to-face classes during the Corona pandemic. Therefore, we are grateful for the donation from SKYLOTEC. The masks are very comfortable to wear, breathing is very easy underneath. This is a great advantage when they have to be worn for a long period of time during classes."

A multi-layer, close-fitting mouth-nose protection such as an IIR type mask is not only useful in business life. It also provides more reliable protection in the private environment than so-called everyday masks. Type IIR masks achieve a bacterial filtration performance of over 99% while remaining breathable. This is an advantage because when users have trouble breathing, masks are usually not worn tightly enough. This often happens with FFP2 masks, as they have a higher breathing resistance. As a result, they are often put on more loosely or pulled off the face in between. In such cases, the protective effect is also non-existent. The same applies to those who wear beards, for whom such masks are not intended.
