Whether in the fire brigade, civil defence, the military or the police - height rescuers risk everything for the lives of others every day. These highly qualified specialists compete once a year with search and rescue teams at the “Grimpday” in Namur, Belgium. The international competition is one of the most prestigious among height rescuers worldwide - and presents them with special challenges. In demanding environments, the teams compete against each other in exercises in which they have to perform search and rescue tasks. This event was initiated in 2006 by members of the regional fire service of the city of Namur. It is widely believed that the “Grimpday” has become a benchmark in the world of rope rescue. It is a competition that attracts teams from around the world eager to share and improve their rope rescue skills.

From now on, the international comparison of performance will be supported by SKYLOTEC, the world's leading brand for evacuation and rescue equipment as well as for motor-driven cable winches. At the beginning of the year, SKYLOTEC acquired the Swedish company ActSafe, the global market leader in the field of motorised cable winches. By integrating ActSafe, SKYLOTEC further expanded its expertise in the field of rope access technology. Now the globally active family-owned company from Neuwied is joining the "Grimpday" as main sponsor. “SKYLOTEC offers comprehensive solutions in the field of rope-based access and rescue and stands for high-performance and innovative products. That's why we are glad to have won the brand over for a cooperation. This is a perfect partnership,” revels Maxime Covens, the “Grimpday” coordinator. SKYLOTEC has greatly expanded its expertise and manufacturing capabilities in the area of hardware over the past few years – and has also expanded its product range. In this segment, the German, family-owned company recently presented new solutions that have been specially developed for rescue applications. In addition to the “Sirius” descender, these include rope and hand climbing clamps, harnesses as well as matching lanyards and foot slings. “We are pleased to support Grimpday as main sponsor from now on. For us as a manufacturer the exchange with the users of our products is immensely important. The Grimpday offers us an excellent opportunity to do so,” says Dr. Kai Rinklake, Managing Director of SKYLOTEC.
